July 4th Fun Near the Inn

In Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, the Fourth of July still feels like it should—authentic, neighborly, and full of old-fashioned fun. Picture tractors and antique cars parading down Main Street, pie-eating contests with sticky-fingered laughter, fireworks bursting over quiet lakes, and communities coming together just for the joy of it. It’s the kind of celebration that reminds us why we love summer—and why we love Vermont.

If you’re staying at or near The Wildflower Inn, you’re perfectly positioned to enjoy some of the best July 4th festivities the Kingdom has to offer. Here’s a roundup of where the sparks will fly—both literally and figuratively!

At The Inn: Music, Mountains, and Sunsets

The Wildflower Inn is your hilltop haven for holiday weekend relaxation. On Saturday, July 5th from 6–9 PM, we’ll feature live music by Autumn Chamberlain, a beloved Vermont singer-songwriter, set against panoramic views of Darling Hill. Grab a drink, order something delicious, and toast the sunset with friends and family.

Guests can also enjoy:

  • Lawn games and picnic spots
  • S’mores by the firepit
  • BBQ specials and cold drinks
  • Easy access to nearby parades, lakes, and fun

Island Pond’s Weekend-Long Celebration

Island Pond doesn’t throw a party—it throws a weekend extravaganza.

  • Monday, June 30: Kelly J & The Wonders kick off the fun at 6 PM on the Catamount Stage.
  • Tuesday, July 1: The big parade rolls through town at 11 AM, followed by the American Legion’s Chicken BBQ at noon, and an afternoon scavenger hunt.
  • Saturday, July 5 at 9:30 PM: The grand finale fireworks over the lake cap off this high-energy celebration.

Newport's Gardner Park Spectacular – July 4

Looking for a full day of activity? Head to Newport for a lineup that includes:

  • 8:30 AM: Harry Corrow Freedom Run at Prouty Beach
  • 10:00 AM: Derby Independence Day Parade
  • Afternoon: Cornhole Tournament at Gardner Park and fair food concessions
  • 6:00–9:00 PM: Evansville Transit Authority in concert during the “Paddle Palooza” (watch by boat or shore!)
  • 9:30 PM: Fireworks show over Lake Memphremagog—viewable from land or the luxurious Northern Star yacht

Peacham’s All-Day Americana – July 4

Peacham is small-town charm in full swing:

  • 11:00 AM: Tractor Parade
  • Horseshoe & cornhole tournaments
  • Live music, contra dancing, and bell concerts
  • Local farmers market, library activities, and more
It’s like stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting—complete with real-life apple pie.

Lake Willoughby’s Boat Parade – July 4 at 3 PM

Don't miss this uniquely Vermont tradition. Decorated boats parade the lake starting at Crescent Beach. Join the flotilla or enjoy the view from the shore. Creativity is king—and prizes await the most inspired floats!

North Danville’s Community Club Classic – July 4

Looking for spontaneous small-town fun? North Danville delivers with:

  • A 10 AM parade (sign up at 9:30!)
  • Pie-eating contests, face painting, dunk tank, and historical exhibits
