Official rules

This is a contest of skill. Winners are chosen by judging on the criteria below, never at random. Entering requires a visit to the Wildflower Inn; spending more does not improve your chances.

1. Sponsor. The Wildflower Inn, 2059 Darling Hill Road, Lyndonville, Vermont 05851. Questions: sean@wildflowerinn.com.
2. Who can enter. Anyone 18 or older who is a legal resident of the United States or Canada. Our employees and their immediate households can't enter. Void where prohibited.
3. The photo. One photo, or one video under 60 seconds, that you took during a visit or stay at the Wildflower Inn in Lyndonville, Vermont: the inn, the barns, the deck, the trails and gravel roads on Darling Hill, Heaven's Bench, the waterfall and beaver pond paths, the river, the disc golf course, Trailside, the pool, the sledding hill. A stay, a meal or a visit to Trailside all count as a visit. You must own the photo, and anyone recognizable in it must be okay with it being shared.
4. How to enter. Two ways, equal standing. (a) Post the photo on your own public Instagram or Facebook account and tag or mention @wildflowerinn_restaurant (Instagram) or Wildflower Inn, Vermont (Facebook), or add our location. (b) Send it to us directly: a direct message to @wildflowerinn_restaurant on Instagram, a message to our Facebook Page, or an email to sean@wildflowerinn.com with "Shot of the Month" in the subject line. You are never required to post publicly, share, repost or tag anyone else to enter. Posts and messages received from 12:00 a.m. Eastern on the first day of a month through 11:59 p.m. Eastern on the last day of that month are entries for that month. Enter as often as you like; one prize per person per 12 months.
5. Judging. Each month the Wildflower team (the owner and the marketing lead) chooses one winner on these criteria, weighted equally: composition and light; sense of place (it should read as Darling Hill and the Northeast Kingdom); the moment or story in it; technical quality. Ties are decided by the owner. Judging is complete by the seventh day of the following month. Decisions are final.
6. The prize. One Wildflower Inn hat, approximate retail value $35. One winner per month. We mail it to the winner in the United States or Canada at our cost, or hold it at the front desk if the winner prefers to pick it up. Not redeemable for cash; no substitution except by us if the hat is unavailable, in which case we substitute an item of equal or greater value. Taxes on prizes, if any, are the winner's responsibility.
7. Notification. We notify the winner by reply on the platform they used, or by email, within seven days of judging. If a winner doesn't respond within seven days, or isn't eligible, we choose another entry. We announce the winner on our Instagram and Facebook with the winner's handle or first name and the photo.
8. Your photo, your rights. You keep ownership. By entering you give us a non-exclusive license to repost your entry on our Instagram and Facebook with your handle credited, and to show the winning photo on our website with credit. If we want to use it anywhere else (email, print, ads) we'll ask you separately and you can say no.
9. Release. By entering you release The Wildflower Inn, its owners and employees from claims arising from the contest or the prize, to the extent allowed by law.
10. Meta. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram, Facebook or Meta. By entering you completely release Instagram and Meta and hold Meta harmless from any liability.
11. Changes. We can pause or end the contest at any time; entries already received will still be judged for their month. These rules were last updated September 22, 2026.
